About us
Our Story
The Marshall Choral Society, or MCS, was formed in May 2023 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the purpose of creating and maintaining a community chorus, giving residents of Marshall and surrounding communities an opportunity to learn, practice, and perform, at the highest level of quality, all genres of choral music. Our first rehearsal was conducted in September of 2023, and we were overwhelmed by the turnout and level of talent. Subsequently, the choir has met every Tuesday from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM. Two major concerts are planned each year, one in the spring and one during the holidays. MCS’s first concert, “Wonders of the Season,” held in December 2023, received a standing ovation from a sold-out audience.
The First Presbyterian Church of Marshall has generously permitted us to use its facilities for rehearsals and their beautiful historic sanctuary (circa. 1873) for our concerts. We are also very fortunate to have the support of many individuals and local businesses and organizations. To everyone who has helped make this dream a reality in such a relatively short timeframe, we say “Thank you!” from the bottom of our hearts!
