Marshall Choral Society Artistic Director

Dr. Laura Gilbertson received her Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of South Carolina. She studied conducting with Dr. John Jennings at Shorter College and Dr. Larry Wyatt at the University of South Carolina. As a member of the Shorter College Chorale and the USC Concert Choir, Laura has toured the US and Europe extensively. As well as being a choral conductor, she has performed many operatic roles in the Southeast. A three-time winner of the Southeast District Met auditions, Laura has also been a finalist in the Regional NATS competition for the Southeast, and the GMTA and SCMTA competitions. Laura has conducted choirs in Georgia, South Carolina, and Greenwich, CT and is currently the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Marshall and has been employed by Marshall Public Schools as a music teacher for the last 15 years. Laura lives in Marshall with her husband Douglas, daughter Madison, and son Parker (when he is home from the University of Michigan).
